Use the Internet. All Chat rooms and sites like this one. It's the most effective way nowadays. The age group you have chosen sits mainly in front of the computer so you won't find a better way to commercialise it. May be after that you can start in TV and Radio. But to start use the Internet.

try the Student Union and Freshers' weeks. And give out lots of free samples!!!

It's hard to tell when you don't quite know what the snack is. However, the best way is to do sampling. Get ten kids with a sandwich board message and walk up and down the Takashimaya boulevard area to give out the free samples.
But testing is only one aspect of the biz. The test if used smartly, should come with a survey to ask people if they like it. If they don't - please kill it. That way, you kill the idea before you spend too much. Secondly, the survey results could form as a substantiation or support for your product's popularity for your next job. That means you need to develop a distribution strategy to get it into 7-11 or Cheers.

Try packaging it in a small container or bag... and go around the mall or any place where you can hand it to crowd for a TASTE TEST. Get some interviews, get some comments, get names/testimonials..BUT don't let tester make comparison with other brand This will help you get off to a good start. Let me know the brand name. I spread the word. Send me some thru mail. Good luck...
