He should look at diversifying a bit. Can he use that drill for anything else? There is alot to look at... find out who gets water delivered via truck and do some direct marketing. Tell them the benefits of owning a well. Fliers may work, but you can go above and beyond using methods which will narrow your target providing you with more qualified leads. |

Hi! First off, I've been in the oilfield for about 6 years now, I also work for my dad, who owns a crane service company. He's been in the business for about 30 years now. As far as our own personal advertising, one thing we've found extrememly helpful is promotionals, giveaways. When we've gone on rigs in the past packed with t-shirts, tallybooks, hats, we've found that the guys out there remember us! LOL Also, in Houston and such, there are constantly having conferences, API, oilfield, etc. It's worth the trip and cost of a ticket (which some are free, you just have to reserve a spot) to go and mingle. Get business cards, promos, flyers, etc., go down to the docks and just start handing them out. Leave them at other oilfield related businesses. As far as the flyer thing goes, I don't know of software. But my fiancee is a graphic designer, he can design something for you, not expensive and send you the file which you can print yourself, take to your local office depot, or he can even suggest a cheap place to go.

Here's what I did. Go to a website that will allow you to create a free banner like http://www.addesigner.com/ (I've used it and it's really good). Then go to a good banner exchange program like this one http://www.thebannerexchange.net/signup....
You can upload your banner to their website and simply place a snippet of their code onto your website and voila, you will have a banner exchange! That means that they will place your advertisement on some other peoples websites and you will place someone elses on yours. It worked for me and it doesn't take long to do. Hope that helps! |

You can just use microsoft word or microsoft paint for making flyers, it's very easy. Also, are you sure you want to go out of your way for your father's buisness? If you're tight for money, it would make far more sense to spend your time making a lemonade stand or babysitting than advertising for your father's job. Advertising for your father sounds as though it would end up unsuccessfully and seem like a waste of time in the end. |
