The only software I have used to generate backlinks is called digixmas, you can get 1000+ links fairly easy with them
On DP they have a a Co-Op advertising script, there are thousands of members in it with multiple websites.
The script will put dynamic and static links on any site of your own, you can then place banner or text ads for any of your sites and get impressions based on how often your ads are viewed (like banner exchanges only much better as some are static)
You can display small ads like on www.nuke-evolution.com shown at the very bottom, or place larger banner ads in exchange for more ad views. (check out their back links over 1,900,000 in yahoo)
These guys are the elite in SEO, DP has the best of the best their so I can vouch that its good.
