You might want to target property management companies to sell your services to: call up the property manager and talk about your services; or call up the front office - ask for the name of the appropriate person and create a targeted letter to the prospect that explains what you do, what's unique about your service - talk about features AND benefits, and why they should use you (or switch from their existing landscaping). Do not make the reason to switch all about money - drive by the properties and talk about how you might manage the landscape space, their return on investment in terms of using your services, etc.
The nice aspect of focusing on property managers, versus home owners, is that you can often make a more business-like pitch and they are more responsive. Home owners might think about doing the work themselves during tough times.
During the winter months, the package you could offer the property management firm, could include: winterizing the plants (as necessary); putting up Xmas decorations/and taking them down; handling the care of any inside lobby plants - do this year-round; etc.
If you have a hard time getting in to see the property managers, try to find out if there is any industry association for them - then join up and/or attend meetings where they are at and get your business card in front of them.

Do you have a website? Yahoo has a program available or you can use Microsoft publisher which most computers have or you can purchase some software. Also advertise on Craigslist which is free. Make sure you have plenty of business cards and hand them out at any opportunity and ask satisfied customers to recommend you to friends and family. If you don't have signs on your vehicle, you may find that a good way of getting increased exposure. Keep a journal of jobs done for references, preferably with pictures. You might solicit some local businesses as well. |

Advertising online is just as good as offline. You can create flyers and distribute to people. Online also create a blog and allow comments too. |

Five Aweome tips:
1.Pass out buisness cards at the front door of a big store or mall
2.Put flyers in stores
3.Look up people's number in phone book and call them and tell them about your buisness.
4.Put a magnet on your car! People will look at it while driving.
5.Throw a party, have lots of people and you can pass out flyers and even get on a microphone and tell them about your buisness and before people leave tell them to make donations! |
