How can I get my website to show up in organic search results on no budget?
I tried a couple of advertisement gimmicks that ate up so much money I am still shocked with not results... I have relevant search words as mega tags, but still no results, I do not understand how this stuff works.. I guess.
1) Make sure your meta tags are relevant to the audience you are hoping to get. Ideally your keywords should be contained within the first 2 paragraphs of text on each of your web pages.
2) Once your meta tags are done and you have finished your website - submit your website to all the major search engines - use a free submission service - there are several.
3) Try to get your site listed in Dmoz - this is critical to obtain good google rankings.
4) Dedicate several hours a day to building reciprocal links.
5) Hard work and patience - you won't achieve good rankings overnight.
Hope this helps

Sorry, but I'm not being mean. You're being incredibly naive to think you can get to the top against THOUSANDS of other sites without spending a dime or investing an hour.
>> "I do not understand how this stuff works.. I guess."
(you got that right...)...and the the person who said "spend hours each day building recipticol links" doesn't either....

Assuming you have all of the "SEO fundamentals" (http://www.pdxtc.com/seo101 ) taken care of, and the site is crawlable, visited regularly by the SE spiders etc. then it all comes down to having more subject relevant and high quality content than the next guy.
A byproduct of having all that excellent content you create will be the relevant and authoritative backlinks you'll develop over time. If you've got nothing of value to link to, then nobody will link to you.
Participating and contributing in your niches communities, blogs, and forums (like answering questions in Yahoo answers ;) is a low cost and effective way of establishing yourself (your site) as an authoritative source - (i.e. builds trust for you and your site) and that's the SE rankings are trying to take us in the future....

1. Submit Articles and Press Releases about anything related to your company or industry and have your URL in the Authors signature box.
2. Build a partners site web page and offer a link exchange with other relevant sites.
3. Submit your site to wholesale directories. Some charge a one time or monthly fee. Others require only a back link to the directory.
4. Join industry forums or bloggs and communicate with other members. Every time you post or answer a question your URL is given another back link.
try seo elite it works.

Im a little bothered that so many people here insist
that you need to pay for advertising...
Hard work will produce the same results if not better,
than just throwing your money away.
As you have already found out.
shame on you guys.
and tell me what your budgets are for promoting your sites?
hmmm....
Im guessing nothing.
List your site in every directory known to man,
and when you're done with that...
let us know.
Thats a great start,
This will not take a few hours a day,
this is a full-time job.

do you know why people pay money to advertise on search engine? because the free organic search listing is full of competition. and it is even harder for beginner to challenge the veteran. do you think with no money or no budget there is a short way to outrank those people. do you think the veteran won't use the trick themselves if you a beginner know this stuff from free resources all over the net. trust me good stuff on the net would not be found easily.
When something is working on the net and it is related to search engine not many people will let this out in the open. you will only learn the general thing not the good part of it. another reason why something that works will be kept secret is because once everyone knows the secret and the search result page is being spam with new site the search engine will tweak their algorithm. and we all back to square one finding a new away to get the top of the search engine. and that is not a good feeling indeed.
It is a competition out there. you got to act as a competitor to win the battle to go to the top otherwise you will not last long. if you don't have money then spend a lot of time reading seo material. just follow a simple formula. more money less labor time, less money more labor time. do some research about search engine listing on your keyword phrase you want to target. money won't come freely to your hand. and trust me in this one it even harder to come freely online then offline.
