and put up a notice on your door requesting people stop posting junk mail and circulars - they are not legally obliged to take notice of the sign but they are obliged to take notice of the tps and mps regristration because if it is junk it means that company has bought your information from somewhere and if it is out of date or inaccurate then they can be prosecuted, with the notice on your door, most companies are trying to consciencious(or however you spell it!!) nowadays and will in fact avoid ignoring your notice.
or do what my fiance does, run half way down the street after them only to give it back to them and tell them never to darken our door again - although i think there are more diplomatic ways of doing it....it works! lol |

The junk-mail part of the question is up to someone else, but as a salesman myself, I could tell you how to avoid us. It's quite simple:
Door-to-door salesmen are trained to take control of the conversation from the beginning and make you feel bad to turn away or slam the door in their face. Here's what you do. Take control of the conversation from the moment you realize that they're trying to sell you something you'll use as a door-stopper in two days:
You could use something to this effect: "Ok, I understand, STOP. I am not interested in this product, and don't think I ever will be, thank you for your time. Goodbye." If they don't leave, or try to regain control, stop them again, and stress your point. If they still don't get the message, then closing the door in their face at this point should leave you feeling refreshed knowing that you were at least respectful and maintained your dignity. Don't sumble over your words, mean it in your mind even before you open your mouth. |

Post a sign on your door no hawkers marketeers or cold callers.
Unwanted post, all I did was to fill parts of it in and send it back free-post in their envelopes and with marker pen write do not send again, not wanted at this address, use their postage to return them.
I now don't get unwanted post. |

for junk mail go to post office site and fill in mail preference form and for door to door sales put a beware of the dog sign up or a sign saying no cold callers |

put a notice out side saying you want no marketeers or salesmen of any sort knocking on your door or you will set the dog on them... or get a sign like one of my neighbours has.. it's a pic of an Alsatian saying 'i can make it to the gate in 5seconds...can you'... |
