Just go out and ask the businesses. Tell them they will get advertising for donating. |

Those who donate such prizes are generally looking for some sort of recognition that they are donors. Prepare a simple inexpensive example of a flyer (Microsoft Publisher works wonders) which you can show to the potential donors, and advise them that these flyers will be distributed to all attendees of the games. You will be giving them recognition and a bit of free advertising in the process. |

Go ask local businesses if they would be interested in giving tax deductible donations in exchange for free advertising. Try small businesses they might be more willing to do it. I would ask different bars they usually get free items from beer and liquor distributers that are of no value to them that they would be willing to give to you. |

Look at your audience and make an assessment of who they are. Then think about what advertisers are likely to want to gain some goodwill and awareness with that audience. For fantasy football you're likely to be looking at a young male audience. I'm assuming it's a website so your users could be geographically diverse. You'll need to think of an advertiser for whom the prizes would be relevant to any of your users, no matter where they are (national chain). Also, think about advertisers for whom the prize is worth more than just one visit from your winner - for example a restaurant - $25 will buy them someone a good meal but it's unlikely they'll go alone so the overall deal for the restaurant is that it will be likely to get additional spending from the friends and family that accompany them. However, make sure that your prize is sufficient that they don't HAVE to spend money to use it.
When you talk to them be prepared with information about how many users you expect to have, how often they come to the site, how long it will be active, etc. Offer them banners on the site also. You can extend the value to your advertiser by asking your audience to 'opt-in' to allow your advertiser to email them offers, or offer to do that for your advertiser.
If you can't get 10 from one company you might want to consider offering different prizes or different levels of prizes.
Good luck. |
