Tedel | How can I promote my new books? |
I have launched 2 books so far and I don't know how to promote them. I'd really thank some tips.
I have already tried direct contact with bookstores, but as my books are new, they don't seem very interested. |

Well, your question is a nice one.
It seems as you are ready to do any thing for your books, carry on with your efforts.
I would like to suggest you some tips:
-First of all make the cover page of your book attractive and eye catchy because the first impression is the last impression.
-Secondly, meet as much as people and promote your book personally because word-of-mouth plays a vital role in expanding the sale of your books.
-Thirdly, make prints of pamphlets of your books depicting all the saucy contents. Contact the near by book sellers and newspaper hawkers to place such pamphlets inside the books and newspaper to grab the maximum attention of general public.
-Fourthly, visit yahoo page and make a group which reflects all your connections and links to the people.
-Try to associate some officials (government and private) they will help you to promote ur story.
-Try to provide maximum margin on the sale of books to the booksellers as they helps in building and creating a good relationship with the customers.
-Create a web space on the web, try some free internet web pages to publicise your books.
-And finally end up all your work with a great smile, because your work speaks everything...
Wishing you gud luck

Create a blog on the topic of your books and make frequent posts. Search engines tend to love blog entries and you will get lots of traffic from persons interested in your topic. The blog should point to a website that sells your books.
The website that sells your books should give away one or two chapters of your book in pdf format. This will allow potential readers to see how well written your book is and encourage them to buy the book.
Another way to promote your book is to partner with an author that is already selling books to the same niche or market. Ask them to promote your book to their audience via their email list or snail mail list and offer them a portion of the profits in return. This will introduce your book to others who have bought similar books. People tend to buy more than one book in a given topic.
Another strategy is public speaking. You can give speeches to organizations devoted to the topic you write about. For example, if your book is about gardening, you should speak to gardening clubs or give a lecture at a local nursery. Tell the host that you will have books available. |

I totally agree with what So Witty said about teaming up with another author and doing talks to special interest groups. Along those same lines you may want to visit your local librarian or a few of them. Again, depending on what your book is about, would make a big difference on where and how to approach this avenue of promotion.
I'm the director of all the NC State Baptist Church Libraries and we're getting ready to hold our annual conference next week. We always invite a well know author and usually a pretty new author to come to speak to the group (between 200 - 250 librarians). The reason I mention libraries is I know the library is where people come to check out books to read and they have to bring them back. But, if a person really enjoys a book, that person will more than likely go buy that book. Again, who more would you want promoting your book than a librarian or a bookstore owner? I can't tell you how many books I've "sold" to people because I've recommended them read it. After they read it, they wanted their own copy. So, you might try some libraries, maybe some book clubs groups. What type of books are they? Do you have anyone publishing them? (I hope I can ask these questions!) This is my first time on here. I just know a few people in the business in Nashville and was wondering. Good luck with your books and I hope to read them one day! |

The best way to promote your skills is to show them to others.
If you have really witten something noteworthy-what are you waiting for Man?Mail few good stanzas or even a whole book to the sites which deals with the same or give your articles to the newspapers/magazines/books and so on.
The idea behind is that-Go and show the world- you have that thing in you which is needed to be a good writer or what you call a "GREAT AUTHOR". |
