Maybe I should be shocked by the upside down and inside out thinking your question poses. Your starting a web site development business and you have no idea how to generate traffic to a web site? As you progress in the research of developing your Internet business you will begin to understand why this is an oxymoron. My business contracts with companies who design web sites and provide programming among many other professional skills, so hang with me for a few sentences here... we may do business together in the future. First you must understand that 3/4 of the content for each and every web page that makes up a web site is designed to generate traffic. Not knowing how traffic is generated makes it unlikely you can create a web page that will create traffic. Second in importance is to understand the difference between generating "a lot of people" and generating quality traffic. Quality traffic is exposing the web business to people who are interested in buying the types of services the business offers while traffic in general is just wasted bandwidth and advertising. When editing your webpage, create a comprehensive meta search area (located in the head of the document). When typing it up, remember to use all forms of subject matter you can think of that relates to your site. For instance, if it were a science fiction site, you might use science as well as science fiction & also list all of the sci fi movies that you could think of, etc. The more detailed you are, the better the site will come up when people search, generating more hits on your site...
