Offer discounts like extra months FREE
Advertise in local newspapers, restaurants, community bulletin boards, bumper stickers and other give-aways.
The rule of marketing is that people have to see your company name SEVEN different times. |

You should consider offering a pay as you go rate. Lots of people don't join a gym because we never get our money's worth.
If you offer a monthly membership scheme and a 5-10 quid pay as you go alternative, people like me would come when we could.
Obviously there's the risk that some members would switch schemes. But there's no reason why, even the pay as you goers - don't have to pay an upfront joining fee too. |

i used to work in a fitness club and this is what i learned from the top salesman.
1) understand their needs and what is their concern.
2) find out what they hope to achieve after the workout
3) keep emphasize on their weakness and their ultimate goal they hope to achieve.
4) tell them the benefits
5) throw in freebies, discounts
6) close the deal and welcome to the club! |

Special offers always attract more people like
* 3 months for the price of one month
* free one to one with a trainer
* free tailored fitness schedule
you could do any of those with your existing staff.
Maybe special sessions for certain types of people like
* all female session
* larger build people ( the people who are using the gym to lose weight don't want to be surrounded by skinnies in leotards),
* babysitting/creche for the new mothers |

where are you from and it depends how much you are sellin them for ...... i think gym membership is to high especially for me as i have two kids and a few bills going out ...id love to join a gym but i think that paying monthly is not for me as im not alway able to go. its not fair to have different prices for people who come more often than others , ive been wantin to lose weight ... i have been to gyms before but unable to carry on cus they keep uppin the price ....i need to get in shape and im not motivated enuff at home than i am in a gym ..............
i suppose you could sell a £10 mebership for life and pay three pounds everytime you visit .....thats what the one gym i went to but they got gready and upt it to 5 pound that ment id be paying an extra 6 pounds .i only went three times a week it dont sound alot but it all adds up when you have a faqmily and wanna get in shape....
this world is mad on there weight and wanna lose it ...whose the more gready one the one who eats the food or the one who supposedly want to help you lose weight...
either way i hope you do a good deal ,theres alot of people ino in the same position but gyms dont wanna lisen as ther makin money of us .... i have gain weight through havin kids and it the only thing that make me unhappy |

tell people they are fat
and then run..... if they cant catch you tell them they could use gym membership
or for a more sane approach use the word free when promoting the gym.... for example free months membership or half price if you and a friend join kind of thing.....
they need to know they are getting a good deal..
or do a taster day -have a day when it is free for an hour to use equipment and facilties
good luck where is the gym i need to go to one? |

Do a survey at your locality what others offering... according price your's below theirs and start promoting your gym with some kind of
monsoon offers / winter offers / summer vacation offers..
Buddy Pass : existing member can bring their friends for 5 days with the pass on each one basis and use all the facilitiy and you too talk to him.
Group - Discounts
refer a friend and get commission (this should not be openly said.)
and many ways are thier to increase the membership...
Try these coz... I've done it for my club in Surat, Gujarat for a years... but that was a health club... |

See if you can speak to schools, colleges and workplaces and offer special promotions while you're talking generally about fitness and healthy eating. For example, do a talk about suitable exercises at a slimming group and offer them a special gift.
Do a competition where if they can "row the english channel" or at least the equivalent, over a 3wk period and get some publicity in newspapers for the winners (and the gym!!) |
