By being loyal to them
Never forgetting that 'Word Of Mouth' is the best advertising you will ever get.

be more specific....what type of business ? What current loyalty programs (if any) do you offer? Do you regularly keep in touch with your customers via a CRM program such as email or direct mail to reinforce your brand/services with promotional materials? I would highly recommend MarketingProfs.com - i go there all the time for advice, they have a wonderful forum |

You should do nice things for your customers. I don't know what kind of business you operate. If it is retail, I would say do special things for a certain group once a month or so. Like, on the 15th of the month, make it "Ladies Night Out." Make that day for Ladies, and give them a percentage off. Maybe have samples that especially appeal to the woman customer. Don't forget your little women on this day. Have special things for little girls who are shopping with mom. Have the same thing for men, and senior citizens.
Also, basic things, of course, that appeal to all customers. Smiling employees that are all to willing to help. Courteous service in the store/office, and on the phone. Make sure when they call, they get a person, not a recording. Make sure the goods you offer are at a fair price and exceptional quality. No one could resist this kind of environment.
I'm no expert. However, I am a customer and I know what I like.
OH! and one more thing. Be good to your employees so that they will stay with your company. You want your customers to have knowledgeable people to come to when they need help. Customers hate to passed around from one employee to the other. Plus, if you get used to someone, it is natural that you will want to go where you are comfortable. Example, my husband and I got married three years ago, our first date was to an O'Charley's restaurant. The waiter that was there was awesome. We go to that O'Charley's at least once a week just because if we don't we feel like we are letting a friend down. He brings us our drinks when he greets us. He knows that if we order salads that we both want extra ranch dressing. He never has to ask. We feel like we are taken care of when we go there. He has been with that O'Charley's for several years, and we are not his only loyal customers. Because of him, that restaurant gets ALOT of business. |

Quality & consistency. Word of mouth is your best advertiser. Treat every customer like a million bucks because depending on your industry, them telling a friend or four that u suck is all money lost. |

what s the product/service?
the key to a loyal customers heart is a brand name!! you need a good, memorable name and a decent logo! don't get some idiot to spend two seconds thinking about a name and making a logo because once you have one, you cant change it!
if possible, higher someone to do it
a good brand name:
differentiates one product from another one
makes the product easier to identify
creates customer loyalty
allows the customer to choose the product themselves
increases customer recognition of the product
and gives the product a distinct personality!
good luck! |

I fully agree that you must have the customers' needs/wants as your main objective. Therefore, why not ask your customers?
Ask them if they would be willing to answer a couple of survey questions and offer them an incentive for doing so such as a 5% discount card or a free gift of some type, depending on your products.
Then, just ask them in their opinion, what would keep them coming back as return customers?
Customers love it when they get the feeling that their opinion matters so just get their opinion!
I wish you all the best!

You have to think from the customer's point of view. The customer will be loyal to you if they think that you have THEIR best interest in your mind. Probably, this is what you can try:
1) try adding value to your service. For example, if you are selling a mutual fund, try suggesting a fund that may not belong to one that you are promoting, but will still benefit the customer :).
2) Be a man of your word. If you promise something, deliver it, and on time. Trust me, customers appreciate that.
3) Be communicative. Keep the customer updated about everything thats relevant to them. This will not only help the customer in making decisions but will also make him believe that you are genuinely interested in their welfare.
the list can go on.. but remember, whenever you have doubts about whether something you are doing is right, keep yourself in his shoes. If you would have liked it, the customer will too....
All the best! |

Customers leave only when you don’t offer them what they want – Cost-effective, expert, prompt and courteous service.
So be the best or atleast very good in your field, impress them with your frank and fair dealing, after recognition don’t hike the rates nor become slack in your service but be prompt and committed always |

Strategies are going to be different for B2B than for B2C and for high ticket vs FMCG. Here are some general thoughts:
1) Stay in their face without being annoying or cloying.
For big ticket items or B2B customers -- What is your after sales service like? Do you offer free, value-add information that can help them maximise their investment in your product or service?
For FMCG - do you have contests, promos, free fun things like wallpaper for computers/mobiles? Does your company sponsor sports teams/school events/not for profits/ high profile events in key markets?
2) Can you make it easier for customers to place orders? If B2C - can customers buy online? If B2B, where do you fit into the supply chain and what can you do to be a stronger link?
3) Do you keep a database of customers and do you follow up on them to advise them of product updates, upgrades, new products? |
