How did coke and pepsi promote their products in rural markets?

EddieMora
A long time ago, when the majority of markets were rural markets - they didn't have to promote. They used cocaine as one of the major ingredients.

the best person to give very accurate answer will be a retired marketing man of by gone era... however i Can rough idea...Tonga would be hired blaring out film songs.. would stop in the middle of village... a male dancer, dressed up like girl, would dance.. announcement of product and free sample...do similar at Mela's/hats/shopping day, .. arrange puppet shows... "talkies" that is good old cinema, which were open air, ..distribute free/concessional rate.... this is same old stories the way cigarette were popularised... and u can guess more...i still remember about coco cola in the early years .. at regal cinema hall, anarkali /mughle azam , after the show discount coupons were being distribute d freely, take as many as u want, 50% discount offered, original price was 8 annas

COke and pepsi have very strong brand loyalty and as far as i remember COKE is the number one company when it comes to having a strong brand that is known around the world.

The answer is that they DONT promote in rural markets, they have no need to do so.

Rural markets will never be a major target market for them ,ecpecially since some BEM's are coming up with their own version of coke.
