This website is great for web advertising. It's a free targeted advertising (based on you selecting various categories you would like to be included in) and link exchange network. You put other websites text ads on your page and yours appears on others. And it really is 100% free, forever. While it's not something that guarantees traffic it also doesn't cost anything, so why not try it?

Great web site, but think the banner headline across the top detracts from what you are trying to say.
Get a write up in your local paper - Local Boy Makes Good etc.
Print out a small slip with your web site address on it and put one of these slips in every letter you send, even payment of bills. Someone in the postal department is bound to give it a click.
Talk about it to everyone you meet.
Concentrate on free advertising before you start paying for adverts. This is the road to ruin as this where money can easily be wasted. You are not a million dollar company with great resources.
