Start by doing research. Find out what the market is generally paying for your job and level of experience and see where you fit on that continuum. Then, figure out what kind of employee you are. Are you an asset to your boss or are you a drain on his time. Do you have any responsibilities which fall outside your job description?
You should then decide what the minimum acceptable raise is for you. You should also decide what to do if he flatly refuses.
Gather up all that information and then go to your boss, ask him straight out for a raise, and present your case. |

Take him/her to a private meeting and start by saying how much you enjoy your job, add that you value his/her opinion and ask if he/her thinks you deserve a raise.
Or
Ask your boss if pay raises are regulated by company policy and if so, when do you qualify.
