How do I drive more traffic to my website and get higher up on search engine listings?

I'd like to maximise my visitors on my website and thought that it was all in my keywords. I understand there are other ways of doing this apart from paying to advertise.

How can I maximise viewing figure myself? Any help is much appreciated thank you.

Getting traffic is a combination of a lot of things. Keywords will help, but it's not the magic bullet. The key to success is to create great content that visitors want to use, search engines will love and other websites will naturally link to. Of course, it's easier said than done.

The best way is to get your site listed in major search engines is to get your site listed on top in the organic listings, The only way to get to the top of the search engines is with SEO, which consists of both onpage and offpage factors. Onpage factors are things you actually do to your webpage like targeting keywords, bold, italic, underlined keywords, page title, alt, header, image tags, meta tags are important also but have lost some value in recent years,etc. Offpage factors would be link building. Link building is actually very very important to getting listed highly in the search engines. It is more important than onpage SEO.

I disagree that you should submit your URL manually to the search engines, make the search engines come to you. With proper link building and SEO the search engines will crawl your site without you having to submit it. Here is a site that I think would be very helpful to you.

NOP!! whoever told you there are some other magical ways to increase traffic to your website are talking non sense. To optimise website traffic to your website, i.e. its called search engine optimisation (SEO) and the only way to improve your site key ranking is to work hard on your sites metatags and your sites key words. This is the only way I know of improving your rankings.

**Also webmasters are advised to resubmit there sites details i.e. URL several times in any one 12month period.

**Search engine rankings or scorings also depend upon the kind of website you have. Mine are all charitable or not for profit sites so they get lower rankings than I would obviously like. Commercial sites often get precidence over non money making sites.

**You should also look into the subject area of site maps and site authentication.

**Also you might need a robots.txt file for your site if you dont have one yet? another area you can look into.
