"AOL (America On-Line): You could pave the nation with the free discs these people send out, call 1-800-605-4297 (24 hours a day) to get off the list. Tell them your first name is "current", last name "resident". "

send a complaint form, stating that you don't wish to receive any more disks from them, and keep a copy of it, if they keep sending it, take the latest package and send it across with a copy of your form to the customer care center,if this doesnt work, change your mail :( |

There is a great way to use these disks, as coasters I do. I hate them also. But that's junkmail for you. |

I doubt you can do that, since they are just doing a mass mailing via Bulk mail. Therefore, it is going to all addressing in a certain area. Only thing you can try is to talk to your postoffice, but they may not be able to stop bulk mail. And if they do, you might lose all bulk mail, not just AOL. |

Don't fight it. Because after a point, there's nothing AOL can do about it, either. They use companies to market their product and so you will get them anyway as current resident or as some name or other - these companies just go down a list of numbers and street names. Imagine how the post office workers feel.
There was a comedy skit I once saw that featured a nice couple in their home who made a very large mural of a fish from all the AOL discs they had received...
Just throw them away with the other stuff you get. I have seen a substantial slow-down in getting them, it's been several months now, at least. |

We all use those disks as frisbees, but I don't think we can stop them from sending junk mail. Maybe if you never use AOL, and tell others not to use it because of the annoying disks, we might be able to get enough people to listen. |

YES, AOL suck big time! I went with them for a trial period and couldn't even get on. So I called and tried to cancel. 30 minutes later, I'm still not canceled. Finally after like 45 minutes on the phone with this guy, I get it canceled. They are suppose to stop that but I'm not sure. I don't ever want to deal with them ever again. And I'm spreading the word with a vengeance! |

Hey, don't knock it. They're sending you free disks! Think of the myriad uses for these things: Frisbee for your dog, drink coaster, you can mount them on a plaque and hang them on the wall and make people think you have a platinum record, buff out your CD collection, use them to practice your ninja throwing star skills, create fancy new rims for your ride. The possibilities are endless! |

open a disk and look to see if there is an address to write to to stop mail if not just trough the Cd's out or use them as tea mats you don't have to use them to change ISP |
