However, the best way to get found by Google is to get someone to link to you. You can get links from a directory, a blog or any website. It can take several days to several weeks to show up in Google.
You can submit it yourself, but SEO's do not recommend that as they believe that you will get better rankings for a site if Google finds your site from a link.
You can test to see if you are indexed in Google by performing a special search. Here we use the site identifier and your domain name which would look like this:

Once you are indexed, you will then face the Google Sandbox:

You can do it for free but it will take a long time.
You have to make sure that your site is what the engines are looking for cause they want to be the best to the people using their service.
There is a lot more to it than just sending your sites details to the search engine.
You have to prove to them you are worthy of the position. You must have Excellent content, great keywords strategically placed on your home page and other pages and linking both in and out.
