You have to get spydered by the search engines before they decide if they want to index you.
Only Meta search engines will read your meta description tags and actually use it in the listings Google,Yahoo,Msn all pull what they think is relivant content for the keyword searched and will use that content as a description. As for getting put at the top of the engines that is totally up to the amount of quality incoming links and your page content, focusing on a key word that does not have a lot of compition always helps also. I think google likes the incoming links best and Yahoo and msn like higher keyword density. |

This is hard to do if you're new.
Gain some knowledge by reading thru posts on yahoo answers or on forums.
You can also read articles on seo and sem and gain the basics first.

You need a few things:
1 - figure out what your keywords need to be. Pick 2 or 3 to focus on.
2 - Make sure that those keywords are in the following places:
--- In your "TITLE" tag
--- In your "META Description" tag
--- In your "META Keywords" tag several times
--- On the page, the keywords should appear many times. You want a "keyword density" of at least 2%. This means that your keywords appear at least 1 of every 50 words on the page.
--- On the page, use your keywords in the "ALT" tags of the images on the page
--- Try to incorporate the keywords into the links you have to other pages.
You should also create a sitemap for your site. Google has a tool to help you with this. http://www.google.com/webmasters/
You can "submit" your urls to Google, Yahoo and others. Go to their sites, everybody has their own program and methods for this.
Another thing to work on is links. You want sites that have lots of traffic to link to you, so if you can build partnerships or share links with good sites, it helps alot.
The bottom line, though, is that it takes some time to get up the rankings.
Of course, you can always do the Pay Per Click advertising programs on Google or Yahoo and buy your way up the list. |
