GOT2NO | How do I get retailers and wholesalers to buy my product? |
I want to manufacture candles, and I've got everything set up except I don't know how to get stores to buy them. I was considering a few of the small family owned stores along the highway, and a wholesaler in the county... I wanted to send like an e-mail with a picture of the product with my costs and stuff... any other suggestions and thoughts would be great, i know i'm forgetting a few things. =) |

Try scheduled meetings, by sending formatted emails and/or letters asking them to contact you for a meeting time that is convenient for them. Your products go across better when you present them in person. Be sure to add that you'll be contacting them if you don't here from them and then do just that. |

Emails wont work, best thing to do is put a few samples in a brief case and hit the road. Sell yourself then you can sell the product not the other way around. Do not introduce yourself as the owner it makes it look cheap. Say your the area rep, I suggest you try to get big orders from ditributors and promise them exclusivity that whay they can distribute to the smaller shops. |

You will need to make a unique product both in look and pricing because candles are already everywhere.
Send out samples to he places you want to carry the product.

I would offer them free in spas, facial places or local restaurants as table settings with your brand on it so you get people interested in your product when coming to those places. From there I would go door knocking, then at least you can say your product is already there and people like it (hopefully) all the best :) |

Nothing SELLS better than IN PERSON - Dress yourself properly, not elegant but conservative business attire. /
Present yourself and make a presentation to the BUYER and sell him/her on HOW MUCH THEY CAN MAKE by selling your candles / How well that are made / How pretty they look /
And how FAST you can deliver / How many you can deliver whithin a 24 or 36 Hour period /
Could even try small stores on " consignment " - Good Luck |

That might work but don't forget, being candles most people go by how they smell so if you're going to try a few family owned stores first you might just go up there with the product and price list. Gives it a more friendly, personal touch and they can check out how the candles smell too. |
