There are several good things you can do to market yourself without paying too much. There is a catch, free usually is slower, but over time you can develop a web presence that requires very little cash outlay. Here are some ideas you can consider.
1. SEO - Stands for search engine optimization. This is the art, and i do mean art, of chosing good keywords and meta tags, crafting your site title, description, text so that those keywords and tags match what you are doing, selling etc. If you don't know how and i assume you must not, there are plenty of online resources from which to learn. Just do a search on seo.
2. Free classified ads, lots of them out there, some better some worse, again do a search.
3. Join internet forums, which are online communities with common interests. Find forums that are into what you are doing with your site. Join and post comments, respond to other posts, etc. You cannot advertise outright in forums, but you can have a signature file that appears below any comments you make. The sig file can have links to your website in it. This accomplishes two things. It builds links to your site, and it gets you known, and people will click on those links to see your site.
These are a few suggestions. One good thing about being in forums, is you can ask questions and get lots of help from other more experienced online marketers in there. Do an internet search for free marketing ideas. Like i said, there are lots of them. My suggestion, pick one method, master it, then go on to the next one. You'll get there.
