How do I patten a great idea or invention that I think women will love?
I have a great invention that I would like to put on the market, I've done research and there's nothing out there like it and I know women will love it. How do I go about making it happen?
APPLY TO ABC.COM FOR THAT NEW TELEVISION SHOW INVENTORS!!! OR LOOK UP THE CLOSET PATEN OFFICE AND APPLY FOR A PATEN..IT WILL COST YOU MONEY TO GET IT OUT THERE BUT IF YOU SAY WOMEN WILL LOVE IT ....GO FOR IT

Search for a Patent Lawyer; once you retain such a lawyer they can't share your secret and they can guide you through the process. You need a trademark, copyright, and then a patent in most cases. The later is quite expensive and time consuming to obtain, but you can often go to market with "Patent Pending" so long as you have a good trademark and copyright protection in place.
Get a lawyer; hate to say that; but if you have a really good invention its the only way.

If you apply for a patten then other companies will know about the idea and then steal it. This is done ALL THE TIME and it makes the process of submitting a new idea to the market VERY tricky.
Try doing things this way instead. Find a way to market the idea without fully disclosing what it is in full. You can bring it down to results or affects or what it does for consumers. If you get an interested party to formally pitch the idea to then you would have them sign a confidentiality agreement. Then instead of having something floating out there for those you have had no contact with to try and steal it...you would have a signed document protecting you and making them absolutely liable in case of intellectual property theft.

first keep it to yourself then go on the uspto.gov site it's all about patents and you can do free searches to see if your idea is or has been put on file by another (but it wont tell you if someone is in the process of submitting it)
there you can also look for a patent attorney or agent in you area and they should have a degree in the field that you want a patent in (but they all can do the paper work) check out the site it will guide you through it (just take your time)good luck to you.

Take your ideas to the patent office, get it patented and then ... start showing your ideas to companies -- that way you can't have your idea outright copied or stolen from you.
Or if you can, start making the item your self, and marketing it to specialty shops locally and online.
