That depends on what they are doing. If it is minor violations, I would contact the board of pharmacy in your state. If its major illigal act, call the cops. |

Well, what kind of "illegal things" are going on? Sexual harrassment? Or theft of narcs?
I manage a pharmacy. Our chain has a confidential hotline which one can call - in complete confidence - if one has concerns about ANYTHING which is going on. If you work for one of the chains (CVS, Eckerd, Brooks, Rite-Aid, Walgreens), most likely YOU do have something similar. But call you MUST. You can also call your district Loss Prevention person IF YOU TRUST HER. I would not tell the store manager - for a very good reason - you never know who is in cahoots with whom.
If you work for a small, family owned business, it may be more difficult. If you really feel it's critical, and ONLY if you are fairly certain there are drugs being stolen, you COULD call the DEA.
I don't recommend this, however - I really don't. What you neither need nor want is anyone pointing the finger at YOU - and don't think for a minute that you can't be fired for blowing the whistle no, you can't be fired for THAT, but a vindictive boss can try to term you for ANYTHING else you've done in the past which isn't 100 percent squeaky clean - if someone figures out it was you, you might have a rough time ahead....If you do work in a small store, not a chain, you may have to talk to the actual owner personally. You won't be able to do this anonymously because, if there are only 10 employees - they will be able to figure out it was you.
I really think the anonymous call to either District LP or a corporate "compliance" phone line or even a well-written anonymous letter with FACTS (and facts ARE facts - narcs and controlleds have to be counted and accounted for) - is your best bet and remember - "Just the facts, ma'am". Skip innuendo and don't make wild allegations.
It's okay to state, "I strongly suspect..." as long as you finish with, "and here's why - a. b. and c.".
