Word of mouth marketing begins with having a product, service, or story that's remarkable. People don't talk about the usual stuff. They talk about things that are remarkably great or remarkably bad. You obviously want "remarkably good."
If you don't have something people will want to talk about, you won't benefit from WOM marketing. So do something remarkable, or sell something remarkable, or make your service remarkable. |

This is a tough question to answer without knowing the purpose of your website. If you're selling a product or service, you can easily create positive word of mouth marketing by offering personal touches or great customer service.
As far as web-based word of mouth, as someone stated above, you just started. Consider social media to really push your site via word of mouth. Have you set up a blog off of your site that focuses on the purpose of your site. From there you can socialize by getting involved in online communities around what you're offering. Blogs and social media are a great way to create "a buzz" about your site. Plus, blogging is virtually free with the exception of the time required.
Commenting on community forums and establishing yourself as an expert will also lead to positive comments and thoughts about you and your site.
Another great source of buzz creation is the press release. Choosing the right source to a do your press release can lead to web hits and journalists picking up your story for their publication. But, make sure to optimize your press release with industry buzzwords and phrases so you take advantage of search engines leading people to your release.

First get a product. Find a genre of people who you have targeted for you product and will be likely to recommend it. Distribute the product at a reduced rate or whatever your budget allows. Then have faith that the product you're flogging is worthy of positive review. Source check with your marketers on how well the product was received and report back to the supplier. |
