Like I have said many, many times before you have to decide what keywords you want your blog to be associated with, see where your blog ranks using those keywords and if you don't like where your blog is ranking (or worse yet its not ranking at all!) then you have to work on incorporating those keywords withing the content of your blog.
Do a search with the keywords that you want your blog to be associated with and look at the sites that DO appear. They appear because they have worked on optimizing those keywords within the content of their site(s).
It's not so much that you can add your blog to the search engines. The search engines find your blog when people type in search terms and if your blog matches the search terms then your blog should appear in the search engines - if it doesn't then that just means that you haven't optimized your site for those keywords.
Now most of the major search engines have a link to where you can add your blog manually but those sites say themselves that it will take them some months to actually get to your blog manually.
I try to keep my and my clients' blogs on the top pages of the search engine rankings and its something that requires work. For instance my adsense consulting blog appears on page one of Google's search engine when someone types in "adsense consultant". Sometimes its the top ranking site and sometimes it's like #2 or #3 or #4.
Sites are constantly being added every day which means that there is a chance that some new site may knock down your own site's ranking - so that's why you have to keep working at it. |

For Google, go to http://www.google.com/addurl/ and enter the URL. Read the instructions carefully. For Yahoo, go to https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit and do the same.
Note that most blog sites are already under these (and most) crawler search engines databases, so you may already be able to get to your blog by entering a related piece of info in the searchbar. When a base domain name, such as geocities.com is submitted, everything under the same base address is usually find as well. |

Don't base it only on submitting and waiting for it to happen, go to other blogs similar to what you are writing about and link back to your blog. Saying, hay I've got a blog about the same thing and you can visit it here. Google may crawl your blog sooner that way.
