Most of the answers here have been pretty good at explaining you what you must do.
The only two points I can make, is that maybe you should focus in getting some free traffic that's not SEO. Like article marketing, video marketing, blogs, forums, etc... http://www.profitlancebonus.com/free-traffic-tips.html
The other point I can make is, why not focus on only one segment of your market. Like target SEO only for the long tail. |

A. Does the site have a sitemap?
This is crucial for allowing the spiders to crawl your site quickly. There are many tools online that will automatically generate a sitemap for you. Find which one works best for you.
B. Does each page have a unique META Title tag that properly uses the targeted keyword for that page?
The page Title is one of the points of reference the spider uses in determining what the content of the page should be about. It should include the targeted keyword phrase at the beginning and should never be spammy. Search engine spiders are smarter than that.
C. Does each page have a clear and concise META Description?
This is the summary of the page that the search engines pull down for the SERPs. It should contain at least 2 instances of the targeted keyword phrase and is another reference point for the spiders to determine what the content of the page should be.
D. Does every page use the targeted keyword for that page in H1 or H2 tags?
Search engine spiders also turn to the H1 and H2 tags to determine what the content of the page should be. You should always have your targeted keyword (in some form or another) in the header. It basically says to the spider ‘Hey, this is what this body content is about.’
E. Does each page have a unique body of content relevant to the target keyword and message of the page?
This should be a no-brainer, but obviously the body text on the page you’re optimizing should contain the keywords that you are targeting. Keep it in line with the META Title, Description, and H1/H2 tags for the page. Each and every page should have its own unique content body. Search engines frown heavily on duplicate content.
F. Can I navigate to any area of the site in 3 clicks or less?
Search engine spiders offer more credibility to pages the closer they are to the homepage. Think of it like this: when a spider comes to crawl the site, it gains a general understanding of what the site is about based on the homepage. The deeper the spider crawls on the site, the more it starts forgetting the general purpose of the site. Keeping everything close and within 3 clicks (max, typically) keeps the spiders ‘head’ in check. There are a couple of ways to make this a little easier to accomplish:
1. Have a footer that spans all pages of the site. The footer should contain links to places such as category landing pages, product listing pages based on a few different factors of your choosing, as well as the regular players – About Us, Contact Us, Home, etc.
2. Create links to other pages on your site whenever the opportunity arises. Make sure that the anchor text is relevant.
3. Implement a breadcrumb navigation system. This is a sure-fire way to keep all your pages chained together for easier backwards navigation.
4. The less pages that the product listings populate the better. Three pages of 25 results per page is a lot more efficient than 15 pages of five results per page. Of course, you could set a default of 25 per page and then offer your users the option to adjust the view. For the sake of the spiders this method is better, as they will not be adjusting how many results are viewed at a time.
G. Does the page URL contain the targeted keyword?
Another way to help improve rankings is to have a relevant URL. One thing to remember about this is that you should separate words with dashes, like this:
http://www.yoursitename.com/using-keyword-friendly-urls.html
H. Does the site have a Robots.txt file in place, and is it being utilized properly?
Every site should have a text file that dictates specific areas of the site the spider should not crawl. This is especially handy if there are areas of the site that rely on duplicate content, or for pages you simply have no interest in appearing in the SERPs, such as your Privacy Policy. |

After an initial review of your SEO metatags, we can only conclude that you have no idea what it means to have properly designed entries. For example, your current <title> is a blank "index" entry followed by your "keywords" which are spamdexed (duplicates) and in excess of 15 allowable entries. And the currenty <description> metatag does not consist of complete sentences; they are rather merely another list of keywords. The spamdexed <keywords> entries truly penalizes your website's PR (Page Rank) on Google and Yahoo. It's a miracle that your website is even listed within the top 50 PRs at Google, Yahoo or MSN.
Here's an attached article that should prove helpful in setting up your SEO metatags.
The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
very large Internet Yellow Pages.
Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using
such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.
You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
at Google and Yahoo.
Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, "Who's my end user - is he on dialup or
DSL?" And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
is best for them.
A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.
Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.
Placement of Metatags:
A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.
The second metatag is the "Description" which is
usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one's goods and services.
And the very last category - "Keywords" are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
"Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google's spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
directory.
Here's an example of a very highly-placed website on
Google.com: Begin with the very "generic" search query
"sandwiches downtown los angeles," taking note to not
abbreviate Los Angeles to "LA" and of course, leave
out the parentheses ("). It will bring up some 2.4
million+ search results. Check out where "Nazos.net"
is ranked. It's ranked No. 1!
Again, Nazos.net's high web presence was achieved by
proper web design and placement of relevant metatags
according to Google's publication guidelines.
Good luck! |
