I always hear people talk about affliates and people paying to advertise on their web pages. How do I go about doing this. ANy helpful hints or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can add a link to an affiliate program on your blog. Most affiliate programs are free to join, and pay you a commission when someone who clicks your link orders the product/service that you promote via your affiliate link.

You can search the Clickbank Marketplace: http://www.clickbank.com to find affiliate products that suit your blog's theme. Or search Commission Junction: http://www.cj.com

Of course there are many more online services that pay out commissions.

Just take care that you promote something that your visitors will want to buy, so don't promote a cat food product on a dog lovers blog ;-)

Face to face deals come when your site is in demand, if it's not you'll probably have to deal with middle men who take a cut of what you earn, amazon affiliates for example, you have a site, put links up to products on amazon, if your link leads to a sale you get like a 4% commission.

If your a big time blogger you could probably cut out amazon and do a big deal with the company who makes the products you were selling through amazon.

Though most of us are small time, you can still make loads of money with the likes of amazon, google adsense etc

One way to generate income like you say is building a site and using Googles Adsense program to generate money from advertisements on your page. You can also build a free site with googles blogging page.

You can add advertisements from the Ad providers such as Google and Yahoo! Also good is to find affiliate programs and then offer those products to your visitors. A good program of this kind is ClickBank which has literally thousands of products on offer each whith between 30% and 70% affiliate commissions.
