If i get junk mail and it has a return envelope provided, i tend to tear up what ever it is and post it back! Its not costing me anything and it lets them see what its like to receive junk mail! |

Get in touch with the mail preference service. They have a website, try googling it. |

Just as there is a telephone preference service to stop junk phone calls there is a similar service with the Royal Mail. I think you can find it by going to their website. |

apprehend the postman one morning, and hand him the junk mail. Kick him hard in the groin, and close the door.
This should invoke a conditioned response, and he will asscociate the junk mail, with pain.
You should have no more problems, except perhaps solicitors leters. |

You contact the mailing preference service and get your name taken off the mailing lists - it means each company who sends direct mail, has to check their database and any bought data against this list each time they mail. It takes about 2-3 months before it gets through and you're off all lists. However, you may then need to opt back in to certain services you want to get mail from...
In addition to this you need to contact the Royal Mail and go on their register - this will stop unaddressed mail (or mail that says To the Householder) - which is door dropped by the Royal Mail.
Flyers and stuff from local fast food/delivery services, you need to contact individually, otherwise you have to put up with these, as they dont use any lists, they just employ armies of people to hit each house. |

Mark it all "Return to sender - not known at this address" and stick it in a post box. |

go to your local post office or any post office really and tell them. there is a service that removes you from most lists. I haven't done it myself but a friend gave me this advice |

Write back to the sender and send then a letter with the word STOP. Make sure they are big bright and bold. They will easily get your message. |

Call each company and ask them to take you off there mailing list. They will and within three months or so the mail will stop. |

Write, call or contact the Mailing Preference Service:
http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/
It takes up to a couple of months, but signing up to the MPS will significantly cut down the volume of direct mail you receive.
It won't stop door drops (pizza leaflets and the like), and it won't stop mail you've requested (catalogues you've asked for), but will stop lots of stuff.
Just keep in mind it's not immediate, and won't stop everything - just most. |

Register with the Postal Preference Service (UK only I should imagine). It works, but it doesn't stop Royal Mail delivering up to 5 pieces of junk per day.
You can also put a 'return to sender' label on an item and post it. As the recipient has to pay for it, items from this organisation will soon stop. |
