first make a blue print...get a patent...then start by going to a company that could use your product...what ever you do DON"T get into that invention trap you see on T.V they will sell you a book and get a patent (which you could get yourself) for about $7000.00 to start...before you are done you will have given them over $15,000.00...they say they will try to market it for you...they do nothing but set they azzes...or try to sell a copy of your stuff for a price....just do your homework and when you go to introduce your product to a new Co. Don't tell them it's a new invention yet...see how they react then let them know this is the first one on the market...then start negotiating...if it's a product that has never been seen before....try to find something simular and compare the price and then get your estimated price you want from it....good luck....

I'm a marketing professional. that question has a large answer but I can summarize it for you:
1. get an attorney to file the patten - create a company and incorporate it (the attorney will help you with this step)
2. make your prototype to use as a sales tool to pitch the idea to private investors, corporations, or government agencies.
3. have the attorney negotiate a production and distribution contract for your invention
4. put together a marketing plan and implement it
