what can i do for advertising.
i would say word of mouth and flyers.
but i dont think that will be enough.

Think about the thing that is most likely to attract attention, which in this case would be saving money, or better still, having extra money for doing very little. This will be the most motivating message. For example. take the average mortage in your area, and a saving you expect to make, then say you could save £200 (or whatever it is) for 1 hour of your time (or however long your seminar is). A headline like that will grab people's attention by putting the benefit upfront and big. Focus on just this message and make it as big as possible.
Next, think about where to target people looking for mortgages or who are thinking about mortagages. They're the easiest to target and will be most receptive to your message, anyone else will ignore it. So, I would put leaflets in local estate agents, post leaftlets through houses that have For Sale signs outside, and maybe put mini posters on lamp-posts near banks and building societies, or hand out leaflets outside these places. This way you know you're targetting people who evidently have an interest in mortgages. Then your job is to get all the people who come to either come again and/or tell friends about it. That's where incentives come in, a reduced cost for second attendance or money off if they recommend a friend.
Agree with the comment of giving something away, people love something for free.
Finally, local radio is always looking for a story, as are local papers, try and get some free advertising by getting them to cover what you're doing. Local sets on mission to save people money from the big banks is an interesting story. |

Depending how far away it is, take a small add in the paper. It's not as expensive as radio advertising and quite effective. Make sure it stands out and you'll get the feedback you're looking for. Otherwise try a radio add at a local station, a lot of people listen to the radio!! Make sure it's announced in church as well for all the people who attend. Hang up your flyers in grocery stores and local business' and get friends to mention it when they talk to other people. Good luck!! |

I believe the best place to start, especially in your case, is with your local classifieds. You can get an incredible response with something so simple. People love information, and if they believe you to be the 'expert' in that field, they will come! Now, that you're doing this with your church, I would definately put an ad inside an event flyer and hand them to all of your church members, about a week prior to the seminar date. Another good thing, would be to offer a free incentive to everyone who comes, like a short report on mortgages, or something on disc, or even a transcript of your seminar. Something to get them in. There really is hundreds of ways to advertise and to get a crowd! Try a few things, maybe mix and match to your needs.

you must always promote your business whether it is in ads or seminars. I would make a survey regarding your busness and from that survey word an ad. From that survey make a seminar agenda. |

Since this is entirely local, the following are some ways to advertise your seminar:
1) Following the seminar hold a party. Serve pie and coffee with music, a door prize, balloons and free flowers to the ladies.
2) Send out a news release every other day. Highlight a new aspect of your seminar in each release and mention the party.
3) Hire some kids to deliver invitations to homes. In the invitations, tell about the benefits of the seminar and mention the party, music, door prize and flowers.
