How do you determine if postage is already attached to a postcard? ?
2 postcards I bought have UPC scanner symbols where the postage goes - my husband thinks this means postage is already on it. I paid 49 cents for each postcard. I think I need to add postage to them.

UNLESS it states US Postage 27 cents, YOU have to put postage on

amber-dickson@sbcglobal.net
If there is a symbol or something that looks like a stamp where the stamp usually goes then I would assume there is postage, If you brought It from the post office it defiantly has the postage already on them, Any Other souse i would Question?

your husband is wrong. if it is just a UPC symbol that is so the point of sale can scan it into the register. they put it there so you can cover it with the stamp and not be in the writing area.

If you bought postage paid cards at the post office it clearly looks like a pre printed stamp.

I agree with Ski owl. - The UPC bar code is there for the point-of-sale.

BTW, postcard stamps are cheaper than ones for envelopes (thankfully). :)

On old postcards, way back, you did not need any stamps, ~cause it was included in price of the cards. but with todays cards?...who knows for sure?...if it says no postage neccessary on the card, then you don`t need a stamp...This does not include those pictorial post cards, that tourists send-those surely do need stamps.

The US Postal Service uses scanners to determine where to send the card, letter, package, etc. They Do Not use UPC codes to determine how much postage has been paid.

The UPC code you see is probably the item number for the card itself you purchased.
