There are many ways to get more people to your website. Social Networking, Article marketing, pay per click, directories there are many process are there. You can use any of these methods of marketing to get more people to your website. Which ever method you choose you can get good results. Search engine optimization (SEO) is your starting point for getting people to your website. After all, Google has to "like" your web pages, and people have to be able to find them. All SEO means is making your pages human and Google friendly.
Main basic thing is you should work on various factors of SEO ( search engine optimization) to get your site rank & traffic well in the search engines. Basically, you should link your site to various sites outside the world. Once you get a good number of links, and when you give links to your site and maintain certain aspects in your site like updating the content regularly etc.,

Hi,
It depends on the type of website you've got.
If it is an AdSense or article based website then you will want to;
- Submit your website to the article directories
- Submit your website to the search engines
- Submit articles or snippets of your articles to the article directories with a back-link to your website
- Exchange links with other webmasters in the same niche as you are
If your website is selling a product (digital or physical) you can do all of the above and set up an affiliate program. Your affiliates will bring more traffic to you than you could ever do on your own.
I would recommend you set up an affiliate program with ClickBank if you haven't already done so and give 50%-75% commission to your affiliates to encourage them.
