Advertise in as many free places as possible, and buy space in any popular website. If you do that, then you should design a snappy and catchy ad, that way people will look at it and say, "Ooh, this website looks cool, I think I'll check it out." Make sure you attach the correct link of the website to your image, or viewers may never see it. Also, you can tell all of your friends and family about it, but you need to tell them what it's all about. Like mentioned, put ads in the newspaper, that's usually cheap, or you could even rent a billboard, which costs a little more but nonetheless affordable. |

I used http://www.linkreferral.com.
It's free, and works like this:
1. You list your site with them.
2. People review your site.
3. In return, you review their sites.
This is one way to spread the word about your website. I also suggest adding a link to it on your email signature line so that everyone you send an email to (not spam, but legit emails), they will have the opportunity to click on your link.

A button is usually a 34x81 Image that you click on to get redirected to a link. (redirected to your site) If you know any other people with sites, I'm sure they'll be happy to put your link on their site.
-Pay Google Ads to put you on the sidebar of google searches. If someone searches "how to make ice cream" and youre site is
about an ice cream shop in their local area, it may pop up. It all depends on the related content of your site.
- You can always just tell your friends and family to check it out and hope the word spreads. I know lots of my family's going ons get spread in stories and what not such as "Oh, well my cousin owns a great bakery blah blah you should check it out"
Chances are, People will visit your site because they are already interested in what you're talking about. If not, Be Persuasive. Pretend youre trying to sell a product to them, except try to sell your site/concept to them. Tell them the cool things about whatever you are talking about. They may have Background Knowledge on the theme of youre site and want to learn more about it. Whatever they visit for, make sure they want to stay there. Give a wide variety of content to keep people interested.
