Do you have any tips on how to sell things at a fair? Any tricks you do (add a personal touch like a cute tag or something, or do the layout a certain way, for example)? Anything at all. I just started to make purses and I'd love to hear your suggestions! Thank you!

I'd suggest to make it cool, as it's not easy to sell at fairs.
People use to just look and pass by. There's a known norm at selling items that people needs to see your 'ad' an amount of times before deciding to purchase. For instance, think on good movies trailers: the first time you see it you may say 'i want to go and see this one', but it's after the 5-7th time you see that you pick up your phone and make a call to your best friend to go to the cinema.
So, an idea to use it to your advantage. Could you make ridiculously small and ridiculously cheap (for you) purses? Made of paper, for example. Say you could make some miniatures of your purses. Say you give one of these to everybody reaching you at the fair, and add: "this is so you can keep your fair ticket (or pencil or notes block or whatever not serious) while you're walking through the fair". It's just kind of a joke with your clients, but if they find it cool, hey, they may come back because they'll remember you from the rest of the stands. You've already given them a "useful" purse to remember you the whole day, with your commercial data (stand number, your name, phone, where to reach you after the fair ends, ...).

One thing I would like to say is, if you have a stall with your goods on it, be sure to move the items you have for sale around on your table, that way you will appear to have new items most of the time. Best of luck. |
