Your first stop should be eBay's Guide to Seller Services http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/services.html

eBay's Seller Central has all the resources you need to learn about the basics of selling on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/index.html

The key to a successful eBay selling is simple -- Sell products that people actually want.

Selling on eBay is not as easy as some portray. In fact, go to eBay and check out the number of auctions that end without a single bid. Competition is getting tough, as more sellers go to eBay; even the big boys are joining in the eBay marketplace. Add to that the increasing listing and final value fees.

eBay has several ways for you to determine exactly what the hot items to sell on their marketplace:

Items In Demand = the most popular items currently within that particular category. To see the In Demand page, go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/sellbycategory.html

Hot Items by Category Report = a monthly report that lists the fastest growing categories on eBay for the previous month. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/whatshot.html and select "Hot Items by Category" from the menu on the left.

eBay Pulse = "a daily snapshot of current trends, hot picks, and cool stuff on eBay". Go to http://pulse.ebay.com/ to see eBay Pulse in action.

Merchandising Calendar = eBay promotes specific categories on its home page each month. Savvy eBayers know that this home page exposure results in more interest in such categories. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/calendar.html to view the current Merchandising Calendar.

As to postage costs, get yourself a weighing scale so you know the weight of the item PACKED. Then just use the eBay shipping calculator feature where you will put your handling fee and weight of the item and the calculator automatically computes the shipping fee for you

2. Sell what people really want to buy and need. Look up herehttp://pages.ebay.com/sell/resources.html

Top sellers are actually: Electronics like iPod's, Wii, Mobile phones, Wii Fit, Xbox 360. Second place is clothes and accessories.

Ive been doing ebay for around a year now and ive found the best way to do something is to search the item you are selling on ebay and look at their postage costs....sometimes i add and extra 50p on to be safe.
Then i will state at the end of my listing discription "if the postage is more than i have asked for i will put the extra money left over in the parcel" even if u dont do this and say the postage is £1 and uve charged £2 it doesnt matter, it just sounds better

I also look at what other people are charging for their items sometimes but its just best to put it on a buy it now and ask whatever u think your item is worth and also put it on an auction at a lower bidding price than what u want for it
If your not bothered how much the item sells for just start the listing at a couple of quid and sometimes u get a nice suprise at what it sells for

when the item is sold just click the drop down list under action ( you will find this where it says sold items) and then click view order details then you will find the address and just parcel the item up and write the address on the front and send!
hope this helps
