If you are talking about featured,or sponsered listings, ie PPC, than the accepted industry average is 20% of all searchers will click on those ads. Now clicking on any ONE ad is a different quetsion. That's dependent on your bid price, (what page your ad shows up on), and the copy in the ad.
There are a number of companies that specialize in working with you on developing a PPC campaign. Most have about a $5k spend minimum. |

CLICKTHROUGH RATE (% of people clicking on an ad) depends on a range of factors, e.g:
- size of ad
- ad position
- product being advertised
- relevance to the audience
- animation/interactivity
- frequency (how many times each person views the ad)
That given, banner ads have an average clickthrough rate of 0.1% - i.e 1 person in 1,000 will click on an ad.
At the other extreme, search ads (e.g. sponsored links on Google) have a higher clickthrough rate because the ad is more relevant to the user, around 5-10%. |

i personally would click 1 out of 100 times... if not less... i can't remember when was the last time i clicked on an ad...
i find what i need by searching by keywords... but i do click on the paid search results sometimes... |
