Depend whether you are going into serious internet business. If your content is just for sharing of information to friend, it could be much more cheaper with less than $50 per year.

Hello. That question has many different answers, depending on a few things:
1. Are you planning to design the site yourself or hire a designer?
2. Are you selling something that would require a merchant account or is this a strictly information type page?
3. About how many pages will your site contain?
Right off, I'd like to suggest a great firm that can help you out and provide a great looking site: www.tripleidesigns.com
If you are wanting to develop the site yourself, it's all a matter of how much time you want to devote to this project. If you have a lot of time, I would suggest learning to use dreamweaver. Best product out there for making a website.
If you don't have a lot of time, check out yahoo's site builder. It will help you make a good looking site, but be prepared, as will all template sites, it's not easy to change up and customize.
Then, after that, it's all a matter of hosting. I like godaddy and hostgator. Hosting costs at just 3.50 a month!

Costs go from free (but you have to put up with ads on your site) to $60 a year (http://www.netfirms.com is just one of many hosting sites) on up to hundreds of dollar depending on how fancy you want you site, and if you need a merchant account or not.
Here are free sites you can use:
http://www.bravenet.com includes upgrading to a full account later if you wish, as well as handy 'click-and-build' sites you personalize yourself.
http://www.paypal.com has a means where you can create paypal buttons at no cost to put on your site by cut/pasting the HTML. If you have a lot of inventory this can be tedious

So basically nobody answered your question.
What you need assuming you don't want to host as a subdomain (which you don't).
1. Buy a domain name. .com's 7 bucks from godaddy...
2. Buy some hosting.... pick your poison, there a dime a dozen. hostgator offers something like 75 bucks a year for hosting.... maybe you have a friend who'll help you out for free.
3. either write .html pages for new content on your web site or install a free blog software (wordpress is great, and literally takes seconds to install if you know what you're doing.)
Done, write content and away you go. |
