You would probably have to spend a little money to make a website. First, you need to register the domains. You can get cheap domains from 1&1 and Godaddy where you can also buy the hosting.
1. If you need a good website builder, use Site Build it. It is very user friendly and easy to use. Take a look at the link below for more details.

2. If you want to get something out fast, I highly recommend you to start building a blog. Blogging is fast, easy and free. Moreover you can get indexed quite quickly via blogs than websites.

There are a number of free blog services, but I suggest you to start out with either Wordpress or Blogger.

You get what you pay for. If it's nothing too serious go the free route. Lots of suggestions on Yahoo!Answers.
If you are serious and think your idea will do well you need to pay out a bit. Domain name is not too dear and once you are up and running a few discrete Adsense will pay for it. I am glad someone suggested 1&1. That's what I would say. The next bit is design and coding. Again you can get a template for free and hey presto. But if you are serious you need a properly coded site to have any chance of being optimised for the search engines and to get any where, then you need time. If you build a nice house it is best to have very good foundations rather than a fancy roof! Remember there are millions & millions of websites on the net, that you will be competing with for attention/visitors.. |

You can make a website for free, but the name will probably be like:
mymom.googlepages.com
geocites.com/mymom
mymom.freewebs.com
instead of "mymom.com"
To have "mymom.com" you'll have to pay for a DOMAIN NAME. You can get one from godaddy.com for I think $8-15

Hi,
I have a lot of experience marketing small companies online (I have 3 companies). One of the best ways is to sign up at business directories and protals. These are basically listings of businesses (simliar to the phone book). The advantage is that these portals usually get a lot of traffic and they're ranked high on Google because of all the quality links they contain.
My favorite portal is called Directory Exclusive. I signed up a few weeks ago because they're giving a away a free business card holder when a person enter's their company info. I received it in the mail 3 days ago =)

Professionally, there are three costs associated with a website:
1. domain name registration (annual fee of $8.99 usually). Try www.dynadot.com
2. website hosting (annual of $3.99 a month or more)
3. website design (free if you know how to create one, $60-150 to buy a template and do it yoursel or thousands depending)
The other way would be a free blog website (they have their own templates and designs) like www.blogger.com and then maybe just buy a domain name (step 1) and forward it to the blog website (www.momswebsite.com to www.momsblog.blogger.com) so people can still think it's a "real" website. |
