Agreed with derrick on $2,200 that's a fair price for graphics, programming code for animation and updating.
Anything less you tend to wonder if they outsource (there are tons of designers that do that today), so be careful you get what you pay for trust me. |

I priced out having someone build a site for me.
The prices varied from $1000 to $5000. The maintenance fees ran as high as $50-100 per month.
Now here is the best part. None could prove that they could get traffic.
This is because many will build a site for you. To get someone who will build a site that will actually get traffic is another story. I did find someone who does have a great track record.
It is quite simple. Look at a combination of a number of factors about several of their sites. Alexa (only accurate under 100K but if a site that has been around for a year or more is over 10,000,000 then look elsewhere. Also look at the Google Analytics. This would require permission.
Perhaps most importantly, you need a site that is focused on a topic that people are actually searching for. For instance, say I am an expert on splorks, which I just happen to be. Say I want to build a site on splorks.
I research splorks and how many times people are searching for them and it turns out there are only 2 people a day. Not enough to build a site on unless splorks sell for thousands of dollars.
Or my art site. Turns out there were bizzillions of searches each and every day. Only thing, there were gadzillions of pages of supply. The competition was so high, there was no chance of ever getting any traffic for the keyword Art.
The guys who offered to build my site never told me this.

PS The first tool below is not good for smaller searches. Most site concepts need at least a few thousand searches a day to be viable.

You can do your own through Yahoo. They do the hosting. They provide free simple to use software to maintain and design.
I use it for 3 different websites that I have.
