As a marketing consultant, I would recommend exploring the non-traditional forms of advertising. TV, radio, and newspaper are already well established and know they can charge a good bit for their services.
As to which of the other forms of advertising would work best, well that depends on your target demographic. Since yours is females of various ages (and correct me if I am wrong here), an inexpensive way to get some advertising out would be to make flyers using your own office printer and distribute them to local hair salons, nail salons, tanning salons, women's gyms, etc.
I suggest finding something similar to each of the resources listed below. If you do decide to go with these exact forms, just contact the folks and let them know Chris L sent you by to increase your start-up customer flow, and they will go out of their way to help you.
Whatever you decide to do, having a high quality product and a LOT of advertising in the beginning will help you build the residual customer base you need to continue to be successful. |

Looking through your site, do you only operate online? No physical store address?
I would try internet advertising, but target running spots on fashionable and trendy sites... the sites your customers will be visiting.
I'd look into advertising on Myspace or Facebook. I imagine those two places would be good starting points. |

I can't say anything about web advertising, but for small businesses that are retail in nature I doubt it'd pay off anyway. I do bookkeeping for small business and know what has worked for some of them. Depends on where you are, of course, but one of the cheapest most effective ways to advertise is small, road-side signs. You've seen them for "liquidation" sales and stuff. They don't cost much and you can put them out yourself at night. There needs to be a lot of them, though. Put 10-15 in row down one side of the street and good intersections near your store. You'll see traffic almost immediately. |
