How to advertise on sites?

i want to advertise my site on another website which is more famous. for example on yahoo, google or msn. How should i go about?

The most effective way to advertise online on the internet is to first setup a website and publish its domain name in major search directories like Google, yahoo and msn. More than 80% of users rely on these search directories to provide them with goods and services. These search engines and directories can also be termed as very large internet yellow pages.

Your website should include the generic keywords. If it does not contain the reliable and generic keywords then any one using such generic queries will not be able to discover or locate your website. Your domain name will be invisible and indiscoverable.

The ranking or search order takes place with Google and yahoo and begins with the title Meta tag. The title tag should not consist of more than 65 characters separated by commas. The title should describe in generic term the goods and services followed by location from which resource is located. The domain name which do not resemble with your title is not appropriate unless domains a reputed brand name.

Thus the best way is to have different kind of advertisement sources to test out and see which one gets you the best response.

Google,Yahoo and MSN are major search engines that offers pay per click advertisement. I heard about overture(yahoo pay per click) but I haven't tried using it. I don't know for MSN. For google, it is the Google adwords. It is a pay per click management in which you have to bid a certain amount for your keywords and for your domain to rank in googles' affiliate site. If you don't have a good content and a good site, the search engines will demerit your site by giving your links less impressions.

Impressions is important since it is the rate to know the ranking of your site. There are many ways to follow to earn a good reputation for search engines. Just read about it.

- Use adwords and pay for advertising (not much, depending on your keyword)
- Buy text-links or put your own banner at high traffic websites
- Put your site into directories, not the best solution but its free, well most of them, or pay for featured listing

- Submissions to search engines, directories, link swaps, etc.. also marketing with myspace. Setup a profile just for your website.

Different people use different ways. so really there is no gauranteed way. some methods work for some and some don't.
