Be warned though, purchasing links is not good. The topic is under the spot light right now and if you get hooked up with the wrong site linking to you from a bad neighborhood it can do much more harm than it is worth.

On top of what my colleagues have said here, there won't be no harm if I add two more.
1.) Write good quality content. Why, because good content will eventually be able to attract it's own links by itself.
All you will have to do is market it for a while and then let the viral effect run its course. People are naturally inclined to talk or write about the good stuff they have seen somewhere.
2.) Start a blog. set up a blog either on your website or somewhere else and link it to your website.
It far much easier to syndicate, run and manage a blog and if your blog topic is interesting or helps someone somewhere, it's bound to attract visitors and inbound links.
And there are other many ways to build incoming links. |

start with submitting to http://www.night-directory.com, its great especially because you can get up to 5 links linking to your site.
Also try forums, sites like digg and article submission.
