remember that you don't just want traffic. you want TARGETED traffic, meaning people who are already looking for the kinds of items you're selling. if your main site is selling video games, then you should make sure that you're advertising to people who have an interest in gaming. aside from that, the main methods are:
Paid advertising - Pay-Per-Click advertising like Google Adwords, Hiring people to do your SEO (search engine optimization) so that people doing a Google search can find your website, hiring press release services, etc.
Free/Low-Cost advertising - Posting in discusssion forums (make sure you're actually contributing something valuable to the discussion, and not just spamming the place with your website link), writing articles that would be helpful to your target customer and submitting them to a place like ezinearticles.com, posting in online classified ads, etc.
there are also TONS of places online where you can learn about getting traffic to your website for free. If you go to

You need to get set up with an SMM (social media marketing) campaign. You can pay someone to do it all for you, but it is usually $2,500 to $50,000 per month. Or, you can get a blue print and do the work yourself. It is time consuming but very worth it in the amount of targeted traffic you get. |
