Well If you don't want to join and refer sites to earn traffic exchange credits then you must use a good traffic exchange which gives 1:1 surf ratio one of such very good website is http://www.easyhits4u.com
But If you don't believe in traffic exchanges and want traffic comfortably you must consider one of these.
1. Traffic from search Engines. For this you have to optimize your website for the keywords you want to get visitors for and then improve your pagerank this will result in your website appear in top pages of Google when related things are searched. This is the most powerful way on the internet to get quality traffic however not so easy.
2. Purchase some advertising. cheap advertising will work as well but beware of those who don't tell you how they will send visitors to your website they are cheaters. I wont name them but you will find them selling ads as low as $10 for 10,000 visitors.
Pay per Click like http://adsense.Google.com, http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com and http://www.bidvertiser.com are also good options but a Bit Expensive.
Paid to click are cheaper and Guaranteed too. Consider http://www.bestgpt.info
3. Link your site from high traffic areas. may include some classified websites like http://www.Craigslist.org , directories like http://www.dmoz.org , paid cheap backlinks like http://www.bestgpt.info etc.

sign up to as many sites as you can with free business directory listings. you can add yor site's name to the directory sites and people should be redirected to your site...
also, try adding terms to your site relating to your business that people would be able to find from google, etc
