I guess it is an overstatement to say that "everyone" should have the stereotypical 30-second "elevator speech" in their back pocket, but many people should.

Something like, "I am John Doe. I received a finance degree from Acme University and in four years I rose to senior budget analyst at Widget Designs in Cleveland. I spent the next two years providing logistics support for the Peace Corps in Africa, and now I am back in the States looking for another challenging position in the finance area.

Many people say you should have something like this ready for any moment, just in case you have the opportunity to introduce yourself. Hence, "elevator speech". It should be smooth and allow you to display your confidence in yourself.

Practice on your pets, plants, furniture, all your friends, everyone you can think of, until you can say it smoothly and naturally. Do not sound like an amatuer news anchor. Then, when that is done, move on to ensure you know your stuff, so to speak, as this is rarely enough to make you successful--in interviews, presentations, chance meetings, dinners, etc.

The most often asked question in interviews. You need to have a short statement prepared in your mind. Be careful that it does not sound rehearsed. Limit it to work-related items unless instructed otherwise. Talk about things you have done and jobs you have held that relate to the position you are interviewing for. Start with the item farthest back and work up to the present.

Keep it to approximately one minute or less. Give a brief outline of your education and professional experience. If you don't have experience, speak briefly about your education and other skills that will make you an attractive employee. Practice this before the interview, it's almost a lock that you will be asked this question.

It depends on the context. Is this aa personal or professional question?

(1) Eye contact during the interview is fundamental. People with shifty eyes who look everywhere but at the person puts people on edge and may make them uncomfortable. Proper eye contact is just a sign of respect that you are paying attention to them and you are interested in the conversation or topic at hand. Make sure if your interview is in front of a panel of people to address all of them with your eyes. Even if only one individual is doing the asking, they are all there to evaluate you. You want to make sure that you make them all feel as if they are a part of the interview process.

(3)As you are invited into the interviewer’s office wait until he or she asks you to have a seat before making yourself comfortable. This is just the more polite thing to do.

(4)Bring a notebook or a binder and some pens to the interview. If you are to take notes you do not want to have to ask for paper and a pen. Have it handy and somewhere with easy access. You do not want to have to take your briefcase or purse apart in front of the interviewer frantically searching for your favourite pen.

(5)Carry your Resume with You.
Your presentation about self shouldbe
(i) in consonance with your already submitted resume
(ii) reveal self-confidence to learn/tackle the jobs to be assigned
(iii) convincing to them that you will be an asset to company and will prove it by your sincerity - contribution and dedication.
.........THE UNDERTONE SHOULD BE FULL OF OPTIMISM and the replies should be point to point.

(6) Last but not the least before entering pray God for his blessings. You will have more self confidence to present your self.

if this is for a job application, then ur name should be there with ur age, educational qualification, contact no. and also a small resume including ur strong points, why u want the job, why u r the person for it etc.
