Ho to increase the web traffic, I think that it is post art to the web, and exchange links.

This site provides a completely free internet marketing guide, which helped me, a total internet marketing novice, learn how to optimize Google AdWords, navigate traffic exchanges, write a blog, just to name a few.

There are so many ways, which are cheap and/or free- and the answers in this post have given me some great ideas... but here's a great place to start- it's free.

Exchanging links is definitely helpful. Be warned though: search engines can penalize you if you link too much to sites outside your topic (e.g. you're a music site and you link to mortgage, credit counseling, or other topics not related to music). They want to see links from sites WITHIN your topic

Your idea of posting articles and exchanging links is indeed good. They are a good start.

Be sure, however, to post original articles. Also trade links, as far as possible, with 'related' websites having a high PR.

Additionally, there are several other ways such as SEO, Google Adsense, Yahoo Search Marketing, Social Networking, Banner ads etc.

Traffic Building is a long journey of learning and experience, but well worth it.
