You can actually pay yahoo a yearly fee to get your site to appear higher in someone search list when they look for sites that are similar to yours. Once you do that for a year and more people hit it because they saw it first...then you can drop the service as the numbers will do the work for you.

You have two options- free and paid. You would have to spend some hours for a couple of days to do it yourself or you can pay a search engine optimization company to do it for you. The basic steps you can take to increase traffic to your website would be
- addding content to your website: quality content and content based on the keywords for your website.
- submitting articles to various article directories- ezinearticles etc
- directory submissions
- social networking- use digg, linkedin etc
- blog commenting- look for blogs in your niche and add valuable comments on posts .
- adding local business profile of our business on various sites like Yahoo local etc
