There are several methods for getting visitors to your website:
1. Search Engine Marketing. This involves optimizing your website to rank high in search engines for specific keywords. It's a lot of initial work, but once you get it down, you can usually rank high for many years with only a small continual effort on your part
2. Pay Per Click Advertising. This involves buying adds on many different forms of content networks. Essentially, you pay others to post your ads on their site and you only pay if someone click on the ad and visits your site.
3. Banner Ads. You've no doubt seen these. Those banner ads at the top or on the sides of web pages... they can literally send you millions of visitors, if done right.
4. Social Marketing. Social bookmarking, social networks, blogs, and so on are all good ways to get lots of exposure to your website. In fact, Yahoo Answers is a social network.
5. Traditional Advertising. Radio, TV, Newspapers... all ways you can generate exposure, as well.
Obviously, this list isn't comprehensive and there's a lot to learn about each one of those techniques. My suggestion is you dig in and start doing some research on generating web traffic. There's a lot to learn, but once you get it, it can be a huge boost to your business.
