??? | How to maximise attraction at a store? |
Im on trident work experience and by the end of my 3 weeks my employer has requested that i try to improve / maximise the attraction from customers towards a particular feature in his shop....
This feature is basically a class cabinet with sand in the bottom... and you are meant to search through the sand to find a gem! Once you've found a gem, you make a piece of jewellery using silver clay, and incorperate the gem into your piece.
How do i improve that!!!?

Im only a young helper for a coupe of weeks so its not like im trying to improve the whole shop - more like they want me to improve the section where you find the gems.... What could i do? |

There are several ways you might increase the visibility of your display:
1. Create a theme for the display and promote it throughout the store. For instance, you might adopt a "Buried Treasure" theme and use brightly colored parrots to direct customers to the display.
2. If the display is not front and center in the store, create an eye-catching poster or display to capture customer attention. For instance, using the "Buried Treasure" idea, you could have a pair of shovels at the front of the store on either sided of a poster promoting the "Buried Treasure" theme.
3. Perhaps you could create a bunch of footprints that would lead from the front of the store to the display. These could be designed to look like boot prints in the sand. Or, perhaps you could design a "trail of sand" using an adhesive decal to lead customers from the sign in front of the store to the back.
4. Design a simple button for each sales person to wear promoting the attraction. For example "Ask me about "Buried Treasure" or "Discover Buried Treasure". The idea is to get customers to ask about it.
5. Keep it simple. You want to get people to the display area. Once there, then you can educate them about how the program works. Don't try to explain it all in a poster - that's too much information for people to read at a quick glance. The idea of the poster is NOT to replace the salesperson. It's to make it easier for the salesperson to initiate the sale.

In a real life scenario you would first identify your market (find out who shops at your types of stores) then survey those people asking them what they'd like to see and make those changes (if possible). Power of the collective mind. Good luck |

First of all, it's not like you're trying to bring more people into the store right?
Just in the goal is to get people aware of this particular feature in the store. Without getting too judgmental about the idea itself... which I think needs work... I would advise creating some interesting signage around the cabinet. Do you have a budget to work with?
If so, consider creating a pirate theme with a mast a pirate flag and a treasure chest.
If this is out of budget, consider creating a poster with photography.

Well, I am not too sure what you are asking here!
First, anyone would have to see how the shop is set up and laid out! Where do people enter, where do they congregate?
The best place to put something like this would be a place where people have already done their product selection and are heading to the register to buy from the shop! Like, if you have a certain location just before the cash register line that is slightly off to the side but is visible to all of the people going to the register, people might stop by the cabinet first and look for a gem. I do not think you would want people milling around it BEFORE they go do their purchasing, that would just discourage them from buying whatever it is that you are selling! |

Hmm.. You could try making fliers and hand them out to passers by for advertisement. Also, you could take a photo of each person's piece of jewelery, take their contact details and maybe have a piece of jewelery of the month or something, and maybe have a prize. :] |
