The fastest and preferred way to 'register' a new website with the search engines is simply to exchange a link with another website that is already listed (indexed) by the search engines.
If they display a link to your website from theirs, the next time the search engine 'bot' visits their site, it will crawl through the pages of the site and find the link to your own website.
S.E bots follow links that are found and will therefore follow the link to your website and index it too.
This is a much easier way to have your site found by the search engines rather than using a 'submit URL' form that they provide.
This is the basic first stage of having your website listed with the search engines. There are many other factors involved for actually having your website listed in the search results for the chosen keywords of your website.

See this website. It is for a program called web ceo. It explains how search engines work and how to get your site recognized and increase your ranking by them. I just got on Google by using it.
It is free to download and even if you don't upgrade it has tons of useful info!

As already answered, getting 'registered' with Search Engines is a very quick, easy and best of all Free process!
However, getting 'registered' is unlikely to be what you are looking for - I assume you are interested in achieving top 10 rankings with the major Search Engines, for key search terms, in order to promote your website?
The best place to start with your research would be the Search Engines themselves - Check Google's Webmaster Guidelines for instance for lots of helpful advice.
The quick answer is that you really shouldn't do anything JUST in order to enhance your rankings - build a great site with great content and make sure people know about it (advertising, article syndication etc.) and the Search Engines will find you!
Or - and I admit that I am biased - You could always hire a professional to help promote your site!
PS. Personally, I would always recommend avoiding "submit to 5000 Search Engines..." services, or software submission programs - They are likely to geenrate nothing more than a deluge of SPAM. |
