You don't say how much of a budget you would be restricted to or if budget even matters. Money aside, I would use various media, such as radio, TV, leaflet drop in local paper, etc. Giving out flyers (and maybe a few free sweets) in the high street may be effective. Run a competition in the local paper or radio station - e.g. "if you could make a new sweet, what would it be and what would you call it?" Offer a prize of a gift voucher to spend on sweets at the said sweetshop. Hope some of these ideas give you some inspiration. |

Will it be an old fashioned sweet shop? Just put images from when the sweets were first made. E.g. sweets from the 70's could have flares and psychedelic colours. People love nostalgia. |

Posters in local papers and around town, free samples on opening day.
Have a school time offer...like offer a 20p discount on a big bag on bon bons or something during 1-2 or whenever the local kids have their lunch break.
Few sandwich bars in my local town do that - but the discount is for everyone not just school kids!

Use a bright colourful, eye catching sign with a catchy name! Make it look friendly and clean and put flyers round doors or in the post advertising it! |
